🖥️ No Display on Monitor (No Signal) — Fix It Step-by-Step

A black screen usually comes down to power, input source, cabling/adapters, graphics output, or resolution/refresh settings. Use this ordered checklist to find the fault without guesswork.

🔌 1. Power & Indicators
• Ensure the monitor’s power LED is on and brightness isn’t at 0
• Check the power brick is seated and the powerboard/UPS is switched on
• Test a different wall outlet or remove the powerboard temporarily

🔀 2. Confirm the Input Source
• Set the monitor to the exact port in use (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, DP, USB-C)
• Disconnect docks/adapters for now; use a single direct cable from PC to monitor

🧵 3. Inspect & Swap the Cable
• Reseat both ends firmly; check for bent pins or loose latches on DP
• Try a known-good HDMI/DP/USB-C cable and a different port on the monitor/PC

😴 4. Wake or Reboot the System
• Move the mouse, press a key, or tap the power button once to wake
• If still blank, hold the PC power button for 10 seconds to shut down, then power on

🪟 5. Force the GPU to Re-initialise (Windows/macOS)
• Windows: press Ctrl + Win + Shift + B (beep + brief blink = GPU reset)
Win + P to cycle PC screen only / Duplicate / Extend / Second screen only
• macOS: System Settings > Displays → hold Option to Detect Displays; set Mirror if needed

🧪 6. Logo/BIOs Check (Tells You What’s Broken)
• See a vendor logo/BIOS but black after that → OS/driver/resolution issue
• No logo at all → monitor/cable/port/GPU/power issue — continue below

📐 7. Reset Resolution/Refresh (If OS Loads but Screen Stays Black)
• Windows: boot to Advanced Startup > Startup Settings > Enable low-resolution video, then set a supported resolution/refresh (e.g., 1920×1080 @ 60 Hz)
• macOS: Safe Boot (hold Power → Options if Apple Silicon), then lower resolution/refresh

🎮 8. Bypass/Isolate the Graphics Path
• Desktops with onboard graphics: move the cable from the graphics card to the motherboard HDMI/DP to test iGPU
• Ensure the GPU has its PCIe power plugs connected and is fully seated
• Laptops: bypass the dock; plug directly into the laptop HDMI/USB-C (DP Alt Mode)

🧰 9. RAM/POST Signals
• Listen for beeps or check motherboard LEDs; reseat RAM and test one stick at a time
• Remove non-essential USB devices that load drivers early (capture cards, hubs)

🔁 10. Cross-Test to Pinpoint the Fault
• Connect your monitor to another device (laptop/console)
• Connect your PC to a different monitor/TV
• Result tells you which side is bad: monitor/cable vs. PC/GPU

🔌 11. DisplayPort & USB-C Gotchas
• Power-cycle both PC and monitor; fully unplug DP/USB-C for 30 seconds
• Avoid passive DP→HDMI where unsupported; use the correct active adapter

🛠️ 12. Advanced Board-Level Steps (Only if Needed)
• Clear CMOS (with power disconnected), then re-test video output
• Update BIOS/UEFI and GPU firmware only when you have stable video
• If there’s still no output: suspect PSU, GPU, or motherboard — gather error codes for service
