📧 Setup Email on Computer — The Clean, Reliable Way

Email setup is straightforward when you gather the right details first, choose the correct account type, and verify with controlled tests. The goal is secure sign-in, full mailbox sync, and dependable sending.

🧾 1. Gather the Essentials
• Email address and current password
• Recovery/MFA method available (phone or authenticator)
• If using a custom domain: confirm it’s active and DNS is pointing to your mail provider

📮 2. Choose the Account Type
Microsoft 365 / Exchange — recommended for business; full sync of mail, calendar, contacts
IMAP — mail only (server folders sync), calendar/contacts separate
POP — download-only; avoid unless required by your provider

🔐 3. Security Considerations
• Prefer modern authentication with MFA enabled
• If the provider requires an app password for older apps, create it in the account portal
• Do not store passwords in browsers or notes; use a respected password manager
